Road Safety Education!

In today’s world there are a lot of car accidents and a lot of people suffer serious injuries because of many irresponsible drivers. So, it is important to know a little bit about why this happens. Because of that reason, a survey with 10 questions about Road Safety Education was made to 12 people, and we could find out how much people know about how to drive properly in their city or town, and how good signed is the city so that everybody can drive securely.

We also can see where the people who answered the survey are from, and we can see this survey was taken for people from different cities:

However, to keep the privacy of the people who took the survey we won’t show their emails.

The answers obtained for the questions are the following:

“Do you think there is enough information about how to drive properly in your city or town? (¿Cree ud que hay en su pueblo información y publicidad sobre la seguridad vial?)”

As you can see in the picture below 41.7% said that there is enough information and publicity about how to drive properly in the city or town. However, there is a big 33.3% that said that there isn’t enough information and publicity, and there is another 25% that says that it is 50% of the information and publicity that should be, what it means an improve in this area is necessary and it would good to talk to the people a little bit about how to drive properly in the city. 

The next question is… “Do you think there are enough driving signs in your city or town? (¿Piensa que su pueblo está bien señalizado?)”… And as you can see in the picture below, most of the people said that there aren’t enough signs in the city for them to drive properly. There is 66.7% that said no, and 16.7% that said yes and that there are some of them. This is a very important question and it gives us a proof that we need to put more driving signs in the cities

However, we also have to think if the people respect the signs and other things to avoid accidents and we asked the next question “From 1 to 10, do people respect sidewalks and crosswalks in your city or town? (Del 1 al 10, ¿En su pueblo se respetan las aceras y los pasos de peatones?)” It is very important to know this because if know that they don’t respect this things, we can have a campaign about how to avoid accidents in the city. And the results obtained about this question tell us that it would a good idea to teach the people how to avoid accidents when they are walking on the streets. See picture below. 

The next question that we have (picture below) is “Do you think it’s convenient that the streets of the city or town were put in one direction? (¿Cree conveniente que las calles del pueblo se pusieran en dirección única?)” And we have to know what people think about this because maybe they feel that sometimes there is a hard traffic because there are a lot of cars coming and going in both directions on the same street, and this could improve if we have one direction streets. As you can see there is a 66.7% that would consider good to have some one direction streets. Most likely the main avenues. 

Now, we had to know if people is conscious about how dangerous it can be drive a motorcycle without a helmet, so we asked the following question “How many points would you give to people who usually wear a helmet when driving a motorcycle? (1 star is the worst, 10 stars is the best) (¿Cuántos puntos le daría a la gente que usa normalmente los cascos cuando manejan motos?) (1 estrella es lo peor, 10 es lo mejor)” As you can see in the picture below, there are some people who don’t care pretty much about using a helmet when they are driving a motorcycle on the streets. However, most of them are aware that they have to use a helmet. Nevertheless, this means that people need to know and be more conscious about the rules when driving.

In this question (picture below) we asked the people a question to know how much they meet one simple rule about driving… the question is “Does the obligation to wear the seat belt is met in the city or town? (¿Se cumple la obligación de llevar el cinturón de seguridad puesto, en el pueblo?)” Again, we are just checking if the people are aware that they have to follow the rules about driving. You can see that 66.7% said that only sometimes they use the seat belt. And if we think about this, they know that they can be given a fine for not using the seat belt. This means that simply they don’t care about the rules when driving.

The next question (picture below) is “Do you agree with the speed control system? (¿Está de acuerdo con el sistema de control de velocidad?)” And we have found out that they agree with the speed that is allowed on the streets. 100% of the people said YES, so maybe they just like to break the rules and do the opposite that is indicated. 

In this next question (picture below), we wanted to know if they if they agree with the way to obtain the driving license. “Do you think the methodology people obtain the driving license is appropiate? (¿Le parece correcta la metodología para obtener la licencia de conducir?)”. Unfortunately, a lot of people agree just partially, what it means that this could be improved. Maybe the process is a little confusing or something, and we would have to investigate why they don’t agree completely. 

“Do you know anyone who has obtained the license without having given the practical and theoretical exam? (¿Conoce a alguien que haya obtenido la licencia sin haber rendido el examen práctico-teórico?)”

We decided to ask this question because I know about some people that have bought the driving license and they haven’t taken any test to check their abilities on driving. So, this may be one reason why there are some many accidents in the cities, because irresponsible people are driving and they don’t care about anything. So we have to make sure that the institution in charge of giving the driving license make the people take the test to check they are able to drive a car or whatever. 

And the last question we asked was “Do you know what is the maximum speed allowed on the streets in your city? (¿Sabe cuál es la velocidad máxima permitida en las calles in your city?)” (Picture below) and it was just to check if people know what is the maximum allowed speed in their cities. And as you can see we have the results where people even know that it is not any of the given and they have to choose “Other” to give the answer. 

In conclusion, we can give the people more information about how to drive properly in the city, and we can make some publicity for this, for them to be conscious about a good driving. But most of all, we have to teach the people to follow the rules, and create consciousness that an accident can be bad enough for them to have serious injuries. 

TeChNoLoGy!

Technology is very important in  today's world, anywhere we go, anywhere we see, we can find some piece of technology. Most of the things we do, we do them with some kind of help of technology. We could say that technology is very important and has a lot of advantages for us to do so many different things in an easy way. 


Some of the advantages we can mention are:

1.       We have a better and faster way of communication. With technology we can be in touch with everyone, everywhere, and we only have to turn on a PC and send a IM to someone.

2.       Access to more information and in an easier way. With technology and the Internet, we can find information about whatever we need, for work, for study, for pleasure, etc.

3.       We also have a way of entertainment. Now we have different thing that can be a way for us to have some leisure time, a TV a radio, the Internet. etc.

4.       An opportunity for education. People who don't have the chance to study during the day because of their work, now they can do it in an online way, and they can go only once a week to the university, or in some cases not at all. 

However, we have some disadvantages as well, and we could mention the following:

1.       Job loss. Machines came here to help people do their jobs, but some of them replace the human work and people are not needed in the factories, companies or other places.

2.       World destruction weapons. We have a lot of weapons that could destroy the world if they are activated, which place the mankind in a risky point.

3.       Increases loneliness – Social isolation. Even when we are in touch with people by using the different kinds of Social Networks, we don’t have contact with them and we are all of the time talking with a machine.

So, we have to learn how to use technology in a proper way, so that it can be beneficial and not harmful for us.
